Dear Friends and Colleagues,
We are pleased to announce the 2nd Asian Breast Cancer Conference, to be held in Tokyo on the 8th and 9th of October 2016. The venues for the two-day event will be the Tokyo International Forum and Hinohara Hall, St. Luke’s International University, respectively.
This conference was initially established in 2014. The first meeting was held in Taiwan under the direction of Professor Chiun-Sheung Huang, MD at National Taiwan University. The symposium will be devoted to discussion of the immediate concerns related to comprehensive breast care treatment. Papers will be presented in the form of poster sessions. Debate sessions on comprehensive care will be held engaging younger physicians. The purpose of these sessions is to gain an improved understanding of all the many issues related to breast cancer care across Asia. The hope is that this will provide a better means for resolving breast cancer-related issues.
The official theme of this symposium is “New Directions in Precision Medicine in Breast Cancer Care, with a Basis in Big Data.” We will welcome Clifford Hudis, MD, Director of Medical Oncology at MSKCC (Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center), New York as the keynote speaker. Dr. Hudis also served as the chairperson at the 2013 ASCO (American Society of Clinical Oncology).
The symposium’s highlights also include:
- The current status and future perspectives of Liquid Biopsy in comprehensive breast cancer care.
- New approaches to personalized medicine in the era of NGS (Next Generation Sequencing)
- The impact of Z0011 on management of axillary lymph node dissection.
- The role of MRIs in high-risk breast cancer screening.
Debate sessions and groupwork on some breast cancer care-related topics will be devoted to building mutual trust among physicians and caregivers in Asia, which in turn is intended to lay the foundations for prospective joint research and exchange of information.
Prior to this symposium, the 4th Japan Breast Oncoplastic Surgery Conference is scheduled for the 6th and 7th of October 2016 at the Hilton Tokyo Bay, Urayasu, Tokyo. Eisuke Fukuma, MD, Director of the Breast Center, Kameda Medical Center will be the chairperson.
The focus being Asia, many physicians from this continent in the field of breast cancer will be attending, making it suitable for Breast Cancer Week in Asia during the Pink Ribbon Month.
I hope that you all take this rich opportunity to participate in a broad, mutual exchange of information and experience, toward the betterment of breast cancer-related treatments on this continent. Please join us in our efforts to elevate the theory and practice of breast-cancer medicine here in Asia.
